Pennsylvania District Champions

After the Majors and Travel season is over, District tournament play begins.  Each state is divided into sections and districts.  Horsham belongs to Pennsylvania's Section 8, District 22.  (Just so you get an idea of what District play is all about, this is how teams eventually reach the Little League World Series - which is now their goal in 2 years!) 

Making the District team is serious business!  These coaches had some pretty strict rules, like mandatory   practice/batting practice every day, even the day of a game and NO swimming on game days! (Zach can't wait to go swimming again!)  You know how dedicated these boys are when they comply with the rules 100% and don't even complain about not being able to swim on days with a heat index over 100 degrees. 

District 22 has 13 teams.  Horsham played (and won) 4 games of pool play.  The teams were then seated and double elimination play began.

Janice Ramirez, Nicco's mom, was GREAT this year in taking pictures and video of all the kids this year. Here are a few of Zach's highlights!  The first video is of Tyler Boehm at bat. The other team's pitcher throws  a past ball and Zach slides to steal home!

The last video is after the final out of the District Championship game.  We were playing Oreland for the second time.  They had beaten us the night before, but because it was double elimination we had the opportunity to face them again.  Oh, we (and by "we" I of course mean the boys) wanted this SO bad! Dylan was pitching in the 6th inning.  There were 2 outs and Dylan caught a "soft line drive" to end the game. The whole team came in for a dog pile!  It was so great and so exciting!!
