Lacrosse. I mean LAX!

This year Allie decided she wanted to try something a little different.  This is truly one thing I love about this girl - she loves to try new things!  Especially when this something involves running around with sticks.  Allie chose to play lacrosse this spring, rather than continue with softball.  She was so excited to play that she even got her equipment for Christmas.

This is a first and second grade team, so there was a lot of practice and instruction going on.  But they were able to play 4 games.  Let me tell you, there is more going on than girls just running around with sticks!  Here are a few pictures of Allie the Lacrosse player:

Here she is as Center.  The centers from both teams hold their sticks together with the ball in the middle. When the ref blows the whistle, they do a "throw up", which means they throw the ball up together.  The net HAS to go above their heads or the the other team automatically gets the ball.

And then once it hits the ground, they go for it:

This is Allie "cradling" the ball.  This mean how they move it side to side to keep the ball in the net.

And the ball has to be passed 3 times before a player may shoot.  And I guess this rule applies to all ages, not just first and second graders.

Allie completely fell in love with the sport.  Her favorite position in Center.  (Allie likes to take charge in basically everything she does!)  She made some new friends and can't wait to play next year.

GO HORSHAM LAX!
