Schools Out Kids Triathlon

This past weekend, Zach and Matt participated in their first triathlon. Schools Out Kids Triathlon is an annual event for kids in the area and raises money for CHOP, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. It was amazing! It was so much fun wathcing them swim, bike, and run to the finish line. Grandpa Tom, Grandmas Michelle and Diane, Lorie and Nick were there, and even cousin Beth came out to cheer them on. Warning: lots of pictures. :)

It all started with body marking. Zach was 224, Matt was 265. They loved this part! Then, setting up their transition spot.

Then off to the pool. Zach swam 50 meters (1 lap) and Matt swam 25 meters (1 length). Zach's at the top of the picture.

In the transition area they dried off, put on a shirt, socks, shoes, and a helmet for the 2.3 mile bike ride on the Power Line Trail. We were so proud of Matt - he really has just learned how to ride a bike.

Back to the transition area where they parked their bike, took off their helmet, and off for a half-mile run. It all finished with a lap around the football stadium.

They did such a great job! I am SO proud of them for trying something new. In a few years I'm going to have some real competion. Zach and Matt, we love you very much. See you next year at the finish line.
